Since 1968 we’ve been serving customers from countless different industries. Things change, but our commitment to great service remains. Here’s some of what we’ve been doing between the 1960s and the 2020s.

Business Acquired

Ken Knox acquires S&W Parcel Service with 6 box vans and 8 employees
1968

New Name

Ken Knox renames the company to SW Transport
1972

First Contract

A contract with Raychem is won. Today it's known as TE Connectivity
1974

Our First Facility

SW Transport opens an operating centre and storage facility in Swindon
1975

First Fulfilment Project

First pick & pack and storage operation with MS Plastics is established
1977

Expansion

SW Transport moves to a larger warehouse facility in Swindon and the company does business with most Swindon based companies
1980

The Big League

A contract with The Early Learning Centre Ltd is won
1982

2nd Generation

The 2nd generation of the Knox family, Richard Knox, joins SW Transport as a vehicle technician & Troax begins business with SW Transport
1983

Major Automotive Contract

SW Transport gains sequencing lineside fulfilment and warehouse contracts with Honda suppliers for vehicle production
1992

Warehouse One - 60k sqft

The company opens an additional warehouse in Chelworth, Swindon
1995

New HQ and Transport Hub

SW Transport opens the current head office in Cheney Manor, Swindon
1996

Big New High Street Name

A contract with Homebase is won
1997

20+ Year Relationship

The working relationship with Richard Burbidge (Archwood) begins
2002

The Birth of Our Network

SW Transport opens a new depot in Telford and puts first double-decker trailer into service
2003

Richard Knox Takes Charge

Mike Durham retires and Richard Knox is appointed Managing Director
2004

New Name, New Horizon

SW Transport rebrands as SW Group Logistics
2005

3rd Generation

The 3rd generation of the Knox family, Christian Knox, joins SW Group Logistics as a warehouse operator
2007

First Network Partner

The partnership with MSL Scotland is established
2008

Network Grows

SW Group Logistics' 3rd depot opens in Leeds and the solar power order picking and distribution contract with Segen UK is won
2011

Second Solar Customer

A contract with Midsummer Energy is won
2015

Expand Into Rail Sector

A storage and distribution contract with Knorr Bremse Braking Systems is won
2017

Our Depot “Diamond”

SW Group Logistics' 4th depot opens in Peterborough
2019

New South West Partner

The partnership with H.T Gardner Distribution is established
2022

Network Expands

The partnership with Alan Firmin is established

Richard Knox is promoted from MD to CEO and Clive Oakley succeeds him as the new MD
